Back when Leonardo DiCaprio was announced as the lead in Clint Eastwood’s biopic about controversial FBI director J Edgar Hoover, the actor revealed that the movie won’t focus on Hoover’s rumored cross-dressing or homosexual orgies.
Now that Armie Hammer (The Social Network) has been cast as Clyde Tolson, E! Online caught up with the actor to find out if there will be a kissing scene between him and DiCaprio, since Tolson was not only Hoover’s associate director of the FBI, but also his rumored lover.
“It’s not a kissing scene. It’s a ton of kissing scenes,” said Hammer. “I actually just met [DiCaprio] for the first time Saturday at the DGA Awards. He’s a talented actor. I’m not nervous or afraid of it being awkward. The script is great. The scenes are in there for a reason.”
Hoover and Tolson never admitted to being gay, but Hoover’s actions in death seem to suggest that the two men were more than just friends. They often vacationed together and when Hoover died, Tolson was not only the beneficiary of his life-insurance policy, but also inherited his estate and moved into his house. At Hoover’s funeral, he accepted the US flag draped over Hoover’s coffin, and today, Tolson’s grave is a few yards from Hoover’s in the Congressional Cemetery.
Gisele Bundchen’s ex, Hollywood hunk Leonardo DiCaprio, has a billion reasons to smile this year.
The “Inception” star tops Forbes Magazine’s list of Top-Grossing Actors of 2010, thanks to the $1.1 billion his flicks earned at the worldwide box office in 2010.
Leo’s big year is due to two major successes: Martin Scorcese’s made-in-Massachusetts mystery “Shutter Island,” and the trippy thriller “Inception,” which added at least $50 million to Leo’s own bank balance.
In a surprise tie for second place on the Tinseltown top-earners list is Aussie actress Mia Wasikowska. The 21-year-old newcomer starred as Alice in Tim Burton’s version of “Alice in Wonderland,” which brought in more than $1 billion in ticket sales. She also appears in the critical fave “The Kids Are All Right” alongside Julianne Moore and Annette Bening. Her next role is in the big-screen adaptation of “Jane Eyre.” Johnny Depp also tied for second place, even though “The Tourist,” his latest $100 million film, bombed critically and commercially.
Rounding out the top five are Comeback Kid Robert Downey Jr. at fourth place with $808 million, thanks to audience favorites such as “Iron Man 2” and “Due Date,” and Harry Potter [website] himself, Daniel Radcliffe. Radcliffe’s “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1” opened only a month ago but is already the fourth-highest-grossing film of 2010 with $780 million in global ticket sales.
LEONARD DiCaprio tried to impress Robert De Niro by being “menacing”.
The Inception actor struggled to know how to make a lasting impression on the legendary actor when he was auditioning for him at the age of 16 before settling on the idea of seeming threatening.
“I was 13 years old when I first saw De Niro onscreen,” Leo said. “My dad had taken me to see Midnight Run at the movies. And just before the film started, he pointed to the screen and said, ‘You want to watch a great actor? Now that guy is cool!’ Read more… »
It has been reported that Leonardo DiCaprio is considering converting to Judaism for Israeli girlfriend Bar Refaeli.
It is believed DiCaprio, born Catholic, has been looking into the process of conversion in what is believed to be an indication that the couple are now considering marriage.
“Leo’s sudden intense interest in Israel, its culture and religion is the clearest sign yet that he intends to marry Bar,” a source told the Daily Mail. “Now he is looking into converting for her.”
The couple, who have had an on-off relationship since 2005, have recently become the subject of several reports speculating that they have become engaged.
Now and then you get the feeling you’re just not meant to make a party.
But the lure of an A-list bash in Russia was too much for actor-turned-Milk Tray-man Leonardo DiCaprio, 36, to ignore… even if it meant making two emergency landings.
Leo’s desperate dash to party with Naomi Campbell, 40, at the Global Tiger Conservation Gala (er, random?) saw him taking off in New York but having to turn back after an engine caught fire. Unperturbed, the star caught another flight to St Petersburg but a second (!) emergency landing in Helsinki was needed after head winds meant the plane was running out of fuel.
After refuelling, it finally took the dedicated party boy to the gala, where a relieved Naomi treated him to a slap-up meal.
